I recently bought a new Sigma 150-600mm lens to photograph sport and, in particular, nature.
It is going to take a while to get used to it
The first shots were taken at Ballymorris Pottery. Used a monopod.
The next one was taken at home. I wonder is this wagtail a desendant of the ones who built a nest in the cement mixer, while we were building our house and delayed the work for a while!!
The next shots were especially sought.
I went up to Adare to capture an egret I had seen on the Maigue. I mistimed my visit and it was late in the evening and the tide was well in.
But the peace and the reflections in the river and the light made it worthwhile.
And then a model appeared. The reason I had invested in the lens. Most of the shots proved there is a learning curve with this lens and nature photography but I am happy with these two.
And then as the light faded, the river, the sky captured my attention
And then, with the cameras put away and the dogs out and on the leads, I spotted my first otter!.. A challenge for a different day. Next up though is to get those egrets.
